Pictures of Fall in New England 2015

I’ve been out recently taking pictures of our fall season here in New England.  It’s 2015 and it could be my last fall season living in the north, so I’ve made an extra effort to get tons of photos.

First I went down to Gregg Lake in Antrim, which is my favorite place for photography, no matter what time of year.  I’ve seen better color, but it wasn’t too bad.  With the beautiful lake as a backdrop, it’s easy to get beautiful scenic photos. I’ll be sharing them soon.

Taking the pictures is easy.  Then they must be uploaded and gone through.  I had to weed out a few, but I always take extras so I can choose the best ones to keep and sell. Then they must be sized correctly and uploaded to Zazzle. From there I can make products. I’ll be creating posters and postage stamps as well as cards.

This morning I made postcards for my Zazzle store, and I’ll share some of those images here. To purchase my postcards, please click this link which will take you to a collection of fall items. They won’t have text on the front!

All these photos are my own and they were taken in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire.  I have many more which I’ll be sharing on future posts.

Next weekend (October 17th) is the Peak into Peterborough yearly event. The image below was taken from Depot Square which is the heart of downtown Peterborough. With many shops that sell local goods, and restaurants that serve locally grown food, it’s a popular tourist destination.

I hate to have to put text over my images, but unscrupulous bloggers like to help themselves to images as if they are free to use! No, they are not. Find your own images for blogging at free, public domain sites, like Pixabay.

Getting Ready for the Winter Season

Fall is Fleeting

I can barely bring myself to say “winter” these days.  I guess we are all a bit like that – unless you were unscathed by last year’s horrible weather.  The chore of changing over to the cold season never ceases to amaze me.  Apparently my mind shut down after dealing with last February’s difficulties because I couldn’t  find half of the winter clothing I thought I had.

It’s true that I had half been planning to move, so de-cluttering was on my mind in spring.  The first things to go, when moving from the northeast to the deep south, would be heavy winter clothes.  I am not a clothes hound by any means, but there is something about coats that attract me.  I found myself with far too many of them, so they went to Goodwill.  I only kept the 4 or 5 that I really love and do wear often.  Most are only good for the cooler fall days, and one is my heavy, hooded winter coat.

Somewhere along the way, I inadvertently disposed of my son’s only winter coat.  It is nowhere.  So I had to splurge and buy him a new one.  It had no hood, and he really needs a coat with a hood anyway.  And even though we plan to only spend one more winter here, my son needed good mittens too.  Mittens are one thing I never needed when living in Florida!

This past weekend I got out the snowblower (another nasty word I hate to speak out loud) and started it just to make sure I could.  I’ll have to fill the gas can soon.  Add it to the to-do list.

This year I will fill my metal bucket with sand before the weather gets bad.  The town I live in offers free sand to it’s residents, which I only found out about last year.  But getting it, is another story.  I’m not exactly super-woman when it comes to strength.  My son will have to do the lifting out of the car.

Thanks to the yard sale a year ago, my basement is very sparse.  All it will take is a little organizing and it will make me happy to go down there.  I still have far too many holiday decorations, so those must go to the swap shop soon.  Lightening the load always makes me feel good.

By the way, if you plan to view the foliage here in northern New England, you’d better do it soon.  It should be looking good for the next week or two, but there are no guarantees after that.  I’m taking my camera out this week.  The weather is going to be wonderful.  Norway Hill apple orchard, here I come!

Fall Photography 2014

Now that Fall is about over and the beautiful foliage has mostly blown away, I have time to get my Fall photography, 2014 ready to share.
These photos were taken by me and some of them were taken as I was driving. So they are not perfect, but they capture some of the nice color we were blessed with this Autumn season.
Some photos were taken along Route 202, and some were taken as I walked around a local lake. Then I drove out through Antrim and Hancock for some more rural photos.

Where Would You Take Your Kids in NH?

Cog railroad and mountains
Cog Railway cars at the top of Mt. Washington, NH.

I am working on an article at the Wizzley site where I occasionally write and there is a new contest coming up with the theme: “Things to Do With Kids”… and I chose “in New Hampshire”.

I have not lived here very long, and most of those years were not the type of years I could spend vacationing and taking my kids places.    I plan to include the science centers – and a few of them I’ve actually been to, Ruggles Mine, lake cruises, hiking and the Cog railway, but if any readers know of any great places to take kids in NH, please let me know.

(This is my photo taken this summer.  And to think we almost didn’t ride the Cog because of the threat of bad weather!  Look at that view!)
