Hoping For a Great Fall Foliage Season

Fall Colors ~ 2009

I’m beginning to worry. Just a little. The Fall season is upon us – even if it’s only the 14th of September and the calendar says it begins the 22nd – I’m already hoping to see some color somewhere.

A few days ago my sister came to visit and brought her dog. We went for a walk out by the Peterborough dam, which of course is near water, and there was nothing going on – color wise. I know it’s early, but last year was such a disappointment that I think we are due a brilliant show this time!

When I lived near the lake it seemed that each year the color was spectacular. I took a ton of photos every time I went for a walk. Last year I had just moved into my new home and didn’t have the time to get out and take pictures, but truthfully, I did not see much to photograph. As I remember the color popped for about a week at the very end of the season and that was it. By then I think we were all so disappointed that we mostly missed it!

Foliage Season Winds Down In New Hampshire

At first it seemed like the leaves were never going to change. What happened to foliage season? I was at the bank a week ago and a friend made a comment to the teller about how stinky the colors were this…

New England’s Foliage, October 2010

I have seen this red tree in the afternoon sun and it is breathtaking! But I happened to have my camera in the early morning when the sun was not hitting it.It’s still pretty and the orange tree beyond is also…

Train At the Top of Mount Washington

Cog Railway train mountaintop
Mt. Washington’s Cog Railway

The Cog Railway took us (me and my two sons) to the top of Mount Washington in northern New Hampshire this summer.

It was quite an experience, and the day was so nice that we had fabulous views.

More pics to come, but out of time today.

About:
Approximately 40 minutes up – spend an hour at the top – and ride down.
Get in line early to sit with your family and friends!
Take a camera and go in nice weather.

Pictures of Hydrangea Flowers

I photograph hydrangeas for my Hydrangeas Blue blog, for making wedding stationery for my BlueHyd online store, and for use other places I write online.

Recently I added some hydrangea shrubs to my yard and although I didn’t think they would bloom this year, they did!

It’s a wonderful surprise and I’ve been enjoying photographing these pretty hydrangea varieties.

One Man’s Junk…

used furniture
Re-purposing furniture

This piece of furniture is not exactly junk, but I need to get rid of it. I recently contacted a local shop that sells used furniture and all kinds of things, to see if they might take this entertainment center of mine and sell it.  I have been hoping to add it to a consignment shop, but I have no way to get it there.  I’m hoping that this place will pick it up.

Murray’s Home Again store is located in Peterborough, New Hampshire on the corner of Routes 101 and 123 and I’ve passed by often and seen chairs and bed frames and such out on the lawn.  I have too much furniture as it is, so I never bothered to stop in, but I thought they might be able to help me sell my cherry wood, 3-piece entertainment center. I don’t want this set to get ruined in my garage and I have no room for it in my present home. We bought it in Florida, many years ago, and it fit perfectly in my living room there.

Now it’s time to make room in my garage.  This is one of my big chores to accomplish this summer.

I just sent pictures to them so we’ll see what they say.  But the store looks very interesting and their Facebook page is great too.  They have more than just furniture and provide lots of pictures too.  Now I can’t wait to check the place out.  I think it could be addicting.
